Ingredients/Components

  • haddock fillets - 2 lb
  • large onion - 1 item
  • stalks celery, sliced small - 2 item
  • medium potatoes, sliced - 2 item
  • water, salted - 2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • milk - 1 qt
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • water plain - 1/2 c

How to make fish chowder:

In small kettle, cut up haddock. Cook until tender in 1/2 cup water; lay aside. In large iron or heavy kettle, cut up onion, celery and potatoes. Cook until tender in 2 cups water (salted). When tender, put in cooked fish. Add salt, pepper, milk and butter. Put on low flame until well heated. Do not bring to a boil.
