Hamburger chowder
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1 qt
- salt
- flour - 1/3 c
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- chopped celery - 1 c
- chopped green pepper - 1 c
- ground meat - 1 lb
- tomato juice - 2 c
- seasoned salt - 1 tsp
- large onion - 1 item
- to 5 carrots, sliced - 4 item
- to 4 medium potatoes, diced - 3 item
How to make hamburger chowder:
Melt butter in a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Add onion, carrots, celery and green pepper. Cook until tender, but not too brown. Add beef; cook until crumbly. Stir in tomato juice, potatoes and seasonings. Cover and cook over low heat until vegetables are tender, 20 to 30 minutes. Combine flour with 1 cup milk. Beat until free of lumps. Stir into soup mixture. Add remaining milk; heat, stirring frequently, but do not boil. Makes 10 servings.Recipe categories: Main dish, One Dish meal, Chowders.
