  • salt - 1 c
  • water - 3 qt
  • vinegar - 1 qt
  • clove garlic - 1 item
  • alum - 1/2 tsp
  • dill seed - 1 item

How to make dill pickles:

Heat the first 4 ingredients to boiling. In the bottom of each jar, put 1 clove of garlic and 1 teaspoon of dill seed. Pour water and vinegar mixture over pickles and seal. Use hot water bath for a few minutes. Let sit for 4 weeks before using.
