Cornbread pie
Ingredients/Components
- ground beef - 1 lb
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- can tomato soup - 1 item
- pepper - 1 tsp
- water - 2 c
- chili powder - 1 Tbsp
- can whole kernel corn, drained - 1 item
- self-rising meal
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- milk - 1/2 c
- butter - 1 Tbsp
How to make cornbread pie:
Topping:3/4 c. self-rising meal1 Tbsp. flour1 Tbsp. sugar1 egg, beaten1/2 c. milk1 Tbsp. butter (Can use a `Jiffy' mix instead of mixing this topping.)In a skillet, saut ground beef until gray-looking. Remove and saut onion and green pepper in drippings. Drain remaining drippings; add soup, water, corn and seasonings. Mix well and simmer for 20 minutes. Pour into a sprayed oblong casserole dish, filling the dish about 3/4 full. Cover with topping. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 400° until topping is golden brown.
