Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- milk - 1/3 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- water - 2 c
- baking powder
- beaten egg - 1 item
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chili powder - 2 Tbsp
- chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
- melted shortening - 1 Tbsp
- ground beef - 1 lb
- can tomato soup - 1 item
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- can whole kernel corn, drained or cream-style corn - 1 item
- Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes
How to make hot tamale pie:
Pan-fry beef and onion until light brown and drain. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes.Topping:3/4 c. meal1 Tbsp. flour1 Tbsp. sugar1/2 tsp. salt1 1/2 tsp. baking powder1 beaten egg1/3 c. milk1 Tbsp. melted shortening Sift together dry ingredients. Add egg and milk and stir lightly to combine. Add shortening.Put meat mixture in a greased baking dish. Top with cornbread mixture. Bake at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes.
