Cornbread pie
Ingredients/Components
- ground beef - 1 lb
- large onion, chopped - 1 item
- green pepper, chopped - 1/2 c
- stick margarine - 1/2 item
- can tomato soup - 1 item
- water - 2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- chili powder - 1 Tbsp
- corn fresh or canned - 1 c
- Remove from pan and brown ground beef
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- baking powder
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- milk - 1/2 c
- butter - 1 Tbsp
How to make cornbread pie:
Saute onion and green pepper in butter. Remove from pan and brown ground beef. Add onion and green pepper to browned beef; add soup, water, corn and seasonings. Mix well and simmer for 20 minutes. Pour into buttered oblong casserole dish, 3/4 full, and cover with topping. Bake for 20 minutes at 400°.Topping:3/4 c. corn meal1 Tbsp. flour1/2 tsp. salt1 Tbsp. sugar1 1/2 tsp. baking powder1 egg, beaten1/2 c. milk1 Tbsp. butter Sift dry ingredients together.
