Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • stick margarine - 1/2 item
  • butter - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1 c
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • chili powder - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped green pepper - 1/2 c
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • can tomato soup - 1 3/4
  • black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • whole kernel corn, drained - 1 c
  • self-rising corn meal

How to make meat pie:

Topping:3/4 c. self-rising corn meal1 Tbsp. flour1 Tbsp. sugar1 egg, beaten1/2 c. milk1 Tbsp. butter Saute onion and green pepper in a skillet with the 1/2 stick margarine. Remove and brown the ground beef. Combine the 2 mixtures and add soup, water, corn and seasonings. Mix well and simmer for 20 minutes. Pour into a buttered oblong casserole dish; fill about 3/4 full. Cover with the topping.

For topping: Add the beaten egg to milk, then add dry ingredients. Mix well. Add melted butter. Cover meat mixture with topping. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes, until browned.
