Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- half and half - 3 c
- vanilla
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- egg yolks - 3 item
- cooked pie shell - 1 item
- butter * - 4 Tbsp
- cornstarch 2 slightly rounded - 4 Tbsp
- Swiss cocoa * - 6 Tbsp
How to make chocolate pie:
*Pam Westgaard and I have found this Swiss cocoa from the bulk bins at Waremart. We think it is wonderful! But if you don't have it, substitute 2 squares of unsweetened chocolate and add it after you have slightly cooked the pudding mixture. Delete 2 tablespoons of butter at the end if you use squares.Mix dry ingredients together, then add to milk. Cook until slightly thickened, stirring all the time. Beat 3 egg yolks slightly in small bowl and add small portion of hot mixture and mix. Add the egg mixture back to the main pudding and cook until thick. Remove from heat and add 4 tablespoons butter* and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell and serve with whipped cream.
