Chinese chicken
Ingredients/Components
- brown sugar - 1/3 c
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- water - 1/2 c
- oil - 1 Tbsp
- soy sauce - 1/3 c
- catsup - 1 Tbsp
- green onion, sliced - 1 item
- toasted sesame seed - 2 tsp
- clove garlic, pressed - 1 item
- cut up frying chicken - 1 item
- sherry or apple juice - 1/4 c
- to 3/4 crushed red pepper optional - 1/2 item
How to make chinese chicken:
Note: Stir or shake seed in a frying pan over medium heat until golden.Heat oil in Dutch oven, brown chicken on all sides. Mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, 1/2 cup water, catsup, sherry, red pepper, garlic and green onion. Pour mixture over chicken, cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until tender. Remove chicken to serving dish, leaving the sauce in the pan. Skim off fat. Mix together cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water. Add it to sauce and cook until it is thickened, stirring constantly. Spoon sauce over chicken, then sprinkle with sesame seed.
