Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 Tbsp
- flour - 3 c
- water - 3 qt
- shortening - 1/2 c
- garlic powder - 2 tsp
- onion powder - 1 Tbsp
- + 1 Tbsp - 2/3 c
- stewing chicken - 1 item
How to make chicken and dumplings:
In medium bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening. Add water, a tablespoon at a time, until dough sticks together. Shape into a ball; divide into 4 pieces. On floured board, roll 1 piece at a time to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut dough into 1 x 2-inch strips. Set aside in flat pan until all dough is rolled out and cut. Heat broth to boiling; drop dumplings in. Stir; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 20 minutes.Recipe categories: Chicken, Main dish, Whole chicken.
