- salt - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 4 tsp
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chicken - 1 item
- stalk celery, cut in chunks - 1 item

How to make chicken and dumplings:
Select a plump chicken. Dress. Cut in pieces. Place in saucepan. Cover with boiling water. Add celery, salt and pepper. Cover. Simmer slowly until chicken is tender. Prepare dumpling dough.Drop Dumplings:2 c. flour4 tsp. baking powder2 Tbsp. shortening1 tsp. salt milk Sift flour, measure and sift with baking powder. Cut in shortening with 2 spatulas. Add milk until a thick drop batter is obtained. Drop by teaspoonfuls into boiling broth. Cover. Boil 12 minutes. Serve at once.Recipe categories: Chicken, Main dish, Whole chicken.
