- milk - 1 c
- salt
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- baking powder - 3/4 tsp
- shortening - 1/3 c
- plain flour - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- chicken broth
- ice water - 3 Tbsp
- chicken - 2 c
- poultry seasoning - 1/4 tsp
- hard-cooked egg, sliced - 1 item
- peas and carrots
- boiled potatoes, diced - 3 c
- Cook over low heat until bubbly, stirring constantly
How to make chicken pot pie:
Melt butter in large saucepan; blend in flour. Cook over low heat until bubbly, stirring constantly. Gradually add broth and milk, alternately. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spoon this in 2-quart casserole and top with flaky pastry.Pastry:1 c. flour3/4 tsp. baking powder1/2 tsp. salt1/3 c. shortening3 Tbsp. ice water Combine dry ingredients; cut in shortening and add water. Roll into 1/4-inch thickness and trim to fit casserole. Turn pastry edges under, and press firmly to rim of casserole. Cut slits in top.
