Cheesy scalloped potatoes
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- butter - 1/4 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- grated Cheddar cheese - 8 oz
- medium potatoes, peeled, if desired, and sliced thin - 5 item
- cooked, crumbled bacon if desired - 1/4 c
How to make cheesy scalloped potatoes:
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter; blend in flour and add milk, all at once. Stir until thickened. Add grated cheese, salt and pepper. Continue to cook and stir until cheese is melted. Remove from heat and spread 1/2 of the cheese sauce on the bottom of a shallow 2 1/2-quart casserole dish. Place potatoes on top of cheese sauce, sprinkle with onions and bacon. Add remaining sauce over potatoes. Bake at 350° for 1 hour, until potatoes are tender.Recipe categories: Side dish, Potato, Cheese.
