Cheddar chowder
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- butter
- water - 2 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- grated Cheddar cheese - 2 c
- diced celery - 1/2 c
- diced carrots - 1/2 c
- diced potatoes - 2 c
- cubed ham or any meat - 1 c
How to make cheddar chowder:
White Sauce:1/4 c. butter1/4 c. flour2 c. milk2 c. grated Cheddar cheese Combine water, vegetables, salt and pepper in kettle; boil for 10 to 12 minutes.White Sauce: Meanwhile, in small saucepan, make white sauce. Melt butter. Add flour; stir until smooth. Slowly add milk; cook until thickened. Add grated cheese; stir until melted. Add white sauce to vegetables that have not been drained. Add ham cubes, then heat thoroughly.
Note: You can also use Velveeta cheese.
