Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • butter
  • water - 2 c
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • grated Cheddar cheese - 2 c
  • diced celery - 1/2 c
  • diced carrots - 1/2 c
  • diced potatoes - 2 c
  • cubed ham or any meat - 1 c

How to make cheddar chowder:

White Sauce:1/4 c. butter1/4 c. flour2 c. milk2 c. grated Cheddar cheese Combine water, vegetables, salt and pepper in kettle; boil for 10 to 12 minutes.

White Sauce: Meanwhile, in small saucepan, make white sauce. Melt butter. Add flour; stir until smooth. Slowly add milk; cook until thickened. Add grated cheese; stir until melted. Add white sauce to vegetables that have not been drained. Add ham cubes, then heat thoroughly.

Note: You can also use Velveeta cheese.
