  • buttermilk
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 1/4 c
  • warm water - 1/4 c
  • yeast - 1 pkg

How to make buttermilk rolls:

Dissolve yeast in the 1/4 cup warm water. Heat buttermilk to lukewarm; add sugar, salt, shortening, soda, flour and dissolved yeast. Knead until smooth. Shape into rolls. Place in a warm place. Brush tops with melted butter. Cover and let rise until double. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
