  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • warm water - 1/4 c
  • yeast - 1 pkg

How to make angel biscuits:

Dissolve the yeast in warm water and set aside. Cut shortening into the dry ingredients. Stir in the buttermilk and the water-yeast mixture. Blend thoroughly. Refrigerate or make into biscuits. Let the biscuits rise slightly and bake in a 400° oven until lightly browned.
