Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 tbsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- soda - 1/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 3/4 c
- plain flour - 2-1/2 c
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- liquid shortening - 3 Tbsp
How to make buttermilk rolls:
Mix dry yeast with 1/4 cup warm water. Heat buttermilk, shortening and sugar to lukewarm. In mixing bowl, combine flour, salt and soda. Fold in all ingredients. Let stand for 1 hour. Roll out like biscuits, dip in melted butter and fold. Place in pans. Cover and let stand for 1 hour. Bake at 475° for 8 - 10 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Low cholesterol, Rolls/biscuits.
