  • butter or margarine - 1/3 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • long grain rice - 1 c
  • toasted, slivered almonds - 1/4 c
  • dash of garlic salt - 1 item
  • finely snipped parsley - 1 item
  • can chicken broth 1 3/4 c - 1 3/4

How to make butter baked rice:

Combine salt and 2 cups water. Bring to a boil and pour over rice. Let stand for 30 minutes. Rinse rice with cold water and drain well. Melt butter in skillet. Add rice and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until butter is almost absorbed, about 5 minutes. Turn into 1-quart casserole. Sprinkle with garlic salt. Pour broth over. Bake covered in 325° oven for 45 minutes. Add parsley and fluff with a fork. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake uncovered for 10 more minutes.
