Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 3/4 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda
- large egg - 1 item
- soft shortening - 1/2 c
- allspice - 1/2 tsp
- ground cloves - 1/2 tsp
- unsweetened applesauce
- sugar 1 c - 2 c
- presifted flour
How to make applesauce cake:
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.Into mixing bowl, sift together dry ingredients. Add shortening and water; beat for 2 minutes. Add applesauce and egg; beat for 2 minutes longer. Turn batter into pan. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Remove from oven and turn onto wire rack to cool. Makes 12 servings.
