Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • butter or margarine - 1 Tbsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • egg - 1 item
  • slices bread - 6 item
  • can apple pie filling - 1 item
  • large cooking apples - 6 item
  • Crisco crust for 9-inch pie top and bottom crust
  • sugar or more depending on tartness of apples - 3/4 c

How to make apple pie:

Line pie plate with bottom crust. Pare, core and slice apples and place in pastry-lined plate. Mix together sugar, flour and cinnamon until it looks like all sugar. Sprinkle over sliced apples and shake sugar mixture down into the pie. Dot with butter.

Place top crust over filling; trim and seal. Prick to allow for escape of steam. Bake in hot oven at 400° for 30 to 40 minutes or until apples are cooked and crust is lightly browned.

If you do not care to make the top crust, cover pie crust with a biscuit tin pie plate until apples are well done. Remove tin plate and let pie brown.
