  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • lemon juice - 2 tsp
  • grated lemon peel - 1/2 tsp
  • apples, peeled and sliced - 5 c
  • sugar plus some for top - 2/3 c
  • pastry for 2 crust 9-inch pie

How to make apple pie:

Mix apples with 2/3 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, lemon peel and juice; set aside. Line 9-inch pan with 1 pastry circle. Fill with apple mixture. Dot with margarine. Cover with top crust and crimp edges. Prick top with fork. Bake in preheated oven at 375° for 50 minutes or until apples are tender. Sprinkle crust with sugar before or after baking, if desired.
