Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • Crisco - 1 c
  • warm water - 2 c
  • yeast - 1 pkg
  • self-rising flour or enough to make stiff dough - 5 c

How to make yeast rolls:

Dissolve Crisco in warm water. Add package of yeast. Mix well and add sugar and flour to make a stiff batter. Place in large bowl and cover. Let rise until doubled in bulk or overnight. Add enough flour until can roll on cookie sheet. Cut in rolls 1/4 inch thick. Put in greased pan. Set in warm place until it has doubled in thickness. Bake at 400° until brown.

Note: Dough not used will keep in refrigerator 2 weeks in plastic bowl covered with lid.
