Ingredients/Components
- vanilla flavoring - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 5 Tbsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- + 3 Tbsp - 1 c
- soda mixed into buttermilk - 1 tsp
How to make tea cakes:
Mix the ingredients together thoroughly. Add plain flour gradually and mix to consistency of biscuit dough. Roll out on floured surface and cut with cookie cutter. Bake at 350° until lightly browned. Keep in tight container. Tea cakes will keep for weeks.In memory of Ola Turner.
