Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • flour - 1 c
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • eggs, beaten - 3 item
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • Crisco - 1/2 c

How to make tea cakes:

Cream butter and Crisco; add sugar then beaten eggs. Into 1 cup of flour, sift soda and baking powder. Add this to sugar mixture. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Turn onto a floured board; knead until smooth. Roll out 1/2-inch thick. Cut in any shape. Bake about 10 minutes.
