Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/3 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- blackberry or any other kind of jam - 1/2 c
How to make jam cake:
Cream sugar, shortening and egg together. Add buttermilk. Sift dry ingredients together and add. Add jam and mix well. Bake in a greased and floured cake pan, 8 x 8 x 2-inches in a moderate oven (350°) for 50 minutes or until done. Or bake in two greased and floured 8-inch layer cake pans in a moderately hot oven of 375° for 25 minutes. Spread with Seafoam Frosting.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Grains.
