Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • cake flour
  • oil
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • slightly beaten eggs - 2 item
  • red food coloring - 1/2 oz
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • cocoa - 2 Tbsp
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • Then add sifted dry ingredients, alternately with buttermilk
  • box powdered sugar - 1 item
  • pkg - 1 oz

How to make red velvet cake:

Mix sugar, oil and eggs. Then add sifted dry ingredients, alternately with buttermilk. Add flavoring. Add vinegar and soda. Mix until well blended. Bake in 3 greased layer pans and lightly floured. Bake at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes.Icing:1 stick softened butter1 box powdered sugar1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese1 tsp. vanilla Blend together until creamy. Frost layers. Sprinkle 1 cup chopped pecans between layers and on top of cake.
