Pork and apple pie
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- apple cider - 1 c
- slices bacon, diced - 3 item
- large onion, coarsely chopped - 1 item
- frozen 9-inch deep dish pie crust, thawed - 1 item
- boneless pork shoulder, cut into 3/4-inch cubes - 12 oz
- medium carrots, peeled, halved lengthwise and sliced 1/4-inch thick - 2 item
- medium turnips, peeled and diced into 1/2-inch cubes - 2 item
- large tart apple, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch cubes - 1 item
- each: dried sage and rosemary, crumbled - 1/2 tsp
How to make pork and apple pie:
Cook bacon in a 12-inch skillet until slightly crisp; transfer to paper towel. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the drippings, then add the pork. Brown on all sides (10 minutes), remove and set aside. Preheat oven to 350°. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add pork and bacon. Spoon mixture into 9-inch pan. Top with pie crust. Make slits for steam to escape.
