Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 Tbsp
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- flour - 6 c
- melted shortening - 6 Tbsp
- yeast - 1 pkg
- lukewarm water - 1 c
- lukewarm milk - 1 c
How to make parker house rolls:
To milk, add sugar and salt. To water, add the yeast and let it set until yeast is dissolved. Mix the water and milk mixture. Add 3 cups of flour and beat until smooth. Add melted shortening. Add some flour and beat until smooth. Place remaining flour onto board. Dump dough into flour and knead until smooth and elastic (about 5 minutes). Place dough in a greased, large bowl. Let rise in a warm place about 1 1/2 hours. Punch down. Roll dough and shape into rolls. Place on a large baking sheet. Let rise until almost doubled.
