Onion soup gratinee
Ingredients/Components

- butter - 3 Tbsp
- water - 3 c
- bay leaf - 1 item
- grated Swiss cheese - 1/2 c
- cans condensed beef broth - 3 1/2

- to 8 slices French bread, toasted - 6 item
- peppercorn, coarsely crushed - 1/4 tsp
How to make onion soup gratinee:
Slice and mince onions. Melt butter in heavy saucepan; add onions and peppercorns. Cook, stirring constantly until light brown. Sprinkle onions with flour; cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add beef broth, water and bay leaf. Bring to boil. Simmer 30 to 40 minutes. Discard bay leaf and season to taste with salt and pepper. Pour into ovenproof tureen. Top with toast slices and sprinkle with cheese. Place under broiler until cheese turns golden. Serves 6 to 8.Recipe categories: Low calorie, Soups & stews, Low Carb.
