- butter - 3 Tbsp
- onion, thinly sliced - 4 c
- sugar - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1 item
- freshly ground pepper - 1 item
- slices French bread, dried or toasted - 4 item
- freshly grated parmesan cheese - 1/2 c
How to make onion soup:
Melt butter in a large pot, add onions and cook very slowly, about 45 minutes, over low heat, stirring often. Stir in sugar, flour and cook for 3 minutes.
