Ingredients/Components
- cream cheese - 8 oz
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1/2 c
- pepper to taste - 1 item
- large onion, finely chopped - 1 item
- thyme - 1/4 tsp
- mushrooms, finely chopped - 1/2 lb
- sweet or sour cream - 1/4 c
- Add flour and work until smooth
How to make mushroom turnovers:
Mix cream cheese and butter thoroughly. Add flour and work until smooth. Chill for at least 30 minutes. Roll to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter. Fill with 1 teaspoon filling. Press edges together with fork and prick top to release steam. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until lightly browned, about 15 minutes.Mushroom Filling:3 Tbsp. butter1 large onion, finely chopped1/2 lb. mushrooms, finely chopped1/4 tsp. thyme1/2 tsp. salt1/2 Tbsp. flour1/4 c. sweet or sour cream pepper to taste In a skillet, heat butter. Add onion and brown lightly. Add mushrooms and cook, stirring often, about 3 minutes. Add thyme, salt and pepper and sprinkle with flour. Stir in cream and cook gently until thickened (oven at 450°).
