Mushroom turnovers
Ingredients/Components
- pkg - 8 oz
- sour cream - 1/3 c
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- margarine, softened - 1 c
- margarine, melted - 2 Tbsp
- green onions, chopped - 2/3 c
- sesame seeds - 1 item
- egg white, beaten - 1 item
- sliced mushrooms, finely chopped
- each thyme and salt - 1/4 tsp
How to make mushroom turnovers:
Filling:4 c. sliced mushrooms, finely chopped2/3 c. green onions, chopped2 Tbsp. margarine, melted1/3 c. sour cream2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour1/4 tsp. each thyme and salt1 egg white, beaten sesame seeds Blend together and chill filling ingredients. Saut mushrooms and onions in margarine for about 3 minutes. Add next 3 ingredients, cooking for a few more minutes. Roll out half of dough at a time to 1/8-inch thickness and cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter or a round cookie cutter. Place a heaping 1/4 teaspoon of mushroom mixture in the center of each circle. Fold over and press edges gently with fingers. Transfer turnovers to a lightly greased baking sheet using a spatula. Finish sealing edges by pressing with a fork. Brush each turnover with egg white and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes. Makes about 65 turnovers.These freeze well for make-ahead events.
