Mom's chicken and dumplings
Ingredients/Components
- cut up chicken - 1 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/2 c
- onion, chopped - 1/2 c
- oil - 1 Tbsp
- or 5 medium potatoes, cut in bite-sized pieces - 4 item
- water - 1 item
- Coat chicken with flour mixture
- sugar
- pkg dry yeast - 1 item
- warm milk - 1 c
- egg - 1 item
How to make mom's chicken and dumplings:
Mix flour, salt and pepper. Coat chicken with flour mixture. Pan fry until golden brown. Add onion to pan and saut?© until soft. Place in roaster pan. Add potatoes to chicken, cover with enough water to cover potatoes. Simmer on stove top at medium heat. When potatoes are softened, spoon dumplings on top of chicken and potatoes. Cook until set, about 10 minutes. Serves 4 to 6.Dumplings:2 c. flour1/4 tsp. salt2 1/2 tsp. sugar1 pkg dry yeast1 c. warm milk1 egg Mix dry ingredients in bowl.
