- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- juice of 1 lemon
- peel of 1 lemon
- flour sift before measuring
How to make lemon bread:
Icing:1/4 c. sugar juice of 1 lemon Cream the shortening with sugar; mix in eggs. Sift flour again with salt and baking powder; alternately add flour and milk to shortening, stirring constantly. Mix in lemon peel. Bake in a greased 5 x 9-inch loaf pan at 350° for 1 hour.Mix lemon juice and sugar and pour icing on cake when done; poke holes in cake with knife to penetrate.
