Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- flour
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- rind of 1 lemon
How to make lemon bread:
Cream together sugar and shortening. Add rind of 1 lemon. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder and add to mixture alternately with milk. Add nuts. Pour into 9 x 5 greased pan. Bake 1 hour at 350°.Mix 1/4 cup of sugar and juice of 1 lemon together and pour over hot bread at once. Let stand a few minutes before removing from pan.
