Italian lentil soup
Ingredients/Components
- water - 2 qt
- olive oil - 1/4 c
- tomato sauce - 1 can
- dry lentils - 8 oz
- salt and pepper, to taste - 1 item
- marjoram to taste - 1 item
- finely sliced carrots - 1 c
- diced celery, optional - 1/2 c
- cooked rice, noodles or broken spaghetti - 1 item
How to make italian lentil soup:
In large kettle, boil lentils in water for 1/2 hour. Add carrots, celery, oil, salt and pepper. Continue boiling slowly for 2 to 3 hours, depending on thickness desired. During last 1/2 hour, add tomato sauce, marjoram, rice, noodles or spaghetti.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Beans, Lentil.
