Homemade granola bars
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla extract - 2 tsp
- butter or margarine - 4 Tbsp
- dark brown sugar - 1/4 c
- shredded coconut - 1 c
- raisins - 1 c
- rolled oats
- honey - 1/2 c
- sesame seed - 1/4 c
- slivered almonds - 1/2 c
- wheat germ - 1/2 c
- raw sunflower seeds - 1/2 c
How to make homemade granola bars:
Heat oven to 300°. Spread oats, coconut, sunflower seeds, sesame seed, wheat germ and almonds on a 9 x 12-inch baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.Meanwhile, heat butter, brown sugar and honey in small saucepan, allowing to simmer until oat mixture comes out of oven. When oat mixture mix comes out, add raisins.
Remove honey mix from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and pour hot liquid onto oat mixture, coating well. Press firmly into the bottom of greased 8 x 8-inch pan. Bake at 300° for 20 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares.
