Heavenly onions
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/2 c
- oleo - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- soy sauce - 1 tsp
- can cream of chicken soup - 1 item
- large onions, sliced - 3 item
- Swiss cheese, grated may substitute Mozzarella cheese - 1/2 lb
- slices buttered French bread may substitute regular white bread - 8 item
How to make heavenly onions:
Simmer onions in oleo until tender. Place in 2-quart casserole. Top with cheese and pepper. Heat soup, milk and soy sauce, stirring until blended. Pour over onions. Stir gently. Overlay bread slices on top around edge of casserole. Bake 15 minutes at 350°, then push bread slices down into onion mixture. Bake 15 minutes more.
