Green bean casserole
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- butter - 1/2 c
- toasted almonds - 1/2 c
- light cream - 1 c
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- soy sauce - 2 tsp
- hot pepper sauce - 1/8 tsp
- sliced mushrooms - 1 lb
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- sharp Cheddar cheese, grated - 3/4 c
- sliced water chestnuts - 5 oz
- frozen French-cut green beans - 3 4
- flavor enhancer optional - 1 tsp
How to make green bean casserole:
Saute mushrooms and onion in butter. Add flour and cook until smooth. Add cream slowly, then cheese and seasonings. Simmer until cheese melts. Cook green beans in salted water. Drain and mix with sauce. Add water chestnuts and top with slivered, blanched toasted almonds. Bake at 375° for 20 minutes.
