- lemon juice - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- salt to taste - 1 item
- butter or margarine, divided - 2 Tbsp
- green beans, trimmed - 1 lb
- sliced natural almonds - 1/2 c
- lemon peel and slices for garnish - 1 item
How to make green bean almondine:
In large skillet brown almonds in 2 teaspoons butter 3 to 4 minutes until golden; set aside. In same skillet saute green beans in remaining butter 5 to 8 minutes until crisp-tender. Stir in lemon juice and pepper. Add salt to taste. Sprinkle almonds over beans.Makes 4 servings. Per serving: 155 calories, 4 g protein, 12 g fat, 15 mg cholesterol, 10 g carbohydrate and 55 mg sodium.
