Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 3 item
  • flour - 2 c
  • boiling water - 1 c
  • cooking oil - 1 c
  • dark syrup - 1 c
  • each: cloves, ginger and cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • baking soda, dissolved in 1/8 c

How to make gingerbread:

Place eggs, syrup, oil, sugar and spices in a large bowl; beat well. Add dissolved soda. Sift in flour and beat well. Add boiling water and beat lightly and quickly. Place in 9 x 12-inch pan, greased well. Bake at 325° for 45 minutes. Serves 10 to 12.
