How to make french toast casserole:

Melt butter in small saucepan. Add brown sugar and cook until syrupy (don't worry if the brown sugar does not completely blend with the butter). Pour mixture into a 9x13-inch pan. Slice bread into 12 slices, about 1-inch thick, and place over sugar/butter mixture, completely lining the bottom of pan with slices. Beat eggs, milk and vanilla and pour over bread slices. Cover dish and refrigerate overnight. Uncover and bake in preheated 350-degree oven for 45 minutes. Sift powdered sugar over top when ready to serve. Pass the warmed syrup. OR skip the syrup and use your favorite "Simply Fruit" and sprinkle only a tiny bit of powdered sugar.
