Ingredients/Components

  • chopped bacon slices - 3 item
  • garlic clove, crushed - 1 item
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • water
  • cubed raw potatoes - 2 c
  • cubed raw carrots - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • whole cloves - 2 item
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • dill seed - 1/4 tsp
  • white pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped celery leaves - 1/3 c
  • 1 lb - 2 c
  • undiluted evaporated milk

How to make fish chowder:

Fry bacon in large saucepan until crisp and golden; remove from pan. Add garlic and onion; saute for 5 minutes. Blend in flour. Add bacon and remaining ingredients, except cod and evaporated milk. Heat to boiling. Cover and simmer 10 minutes. Add fish, cook 10 minutes more; stir occasionally. Stir in evaporated milk. Heat just to boiling. Remove bay leaf and cloves before serving. Garnish with crisp bacon.
