Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • salt - 8 Tbsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • butter - 8 Tbsp
  • stalks celery - 14 item
  • parsley - 2 Tbsp
  • medium onions - 8 item
  • bay leaves - 15 item
  • bushel tomatoes - 1 item
  • cloves optional - 22 item
  • each: red and green peppers optional - 2 item

How to make cream of tomato soup:

Boil together first 7 ingredients for 1 hour. Work through sieve. Cream together and add butter and flour. Add salt and sugar. Boil together 10 minutes. When thickened, put in cans and hot water bath 5 or 10 minutes rolling boil.
