  • butter or margarine - 1/2 c
  • flour - 1/2 c
  • cans evaporated milk - 2 item
  • chopped meat or vegetables - 1 2
  • chicken or beef broth - 2 3

How to make cream of anything soup:

Make a roux of butter and flour, add milk and make a thick white sauce. If cheese is wanted, add it here and whisk to melt. Mix in meat or vegetables and stir until smooth. Add broth and season to taste. I make broccoli soup out of this or cauliflower soup.
