Cranberry chutney
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- water - 1 c
- chopped dates - 1/4 c
- ginger - 1/2 tsp
- cider vinegar - 1/4 c
- light brown sugar - 1/4 c
- seedless raisins - 1/2 c
- dash of garlic powder - 1 item
- dash of cayenne pepper - 1 item
- whole cloves - 4 item
- diced apple - 1/2 c
- fresh or frozen cranberries - 2 c
How to make cranberry chutney:
Simmer first 9 ingredients 5 minutes. Add fruit, dates and brown sugar. Continue to simmer 15 to 20 minutes more. Berries will "pop" and mixture will thicken. Cool; store in refrigerator. Serve warm or chilled as an accompaniment to turkey, ham or beef. Keeps well in refrigerator. Makes 3 1/2 cups.Recipe categories: Lunch/snacks, Sauces, Chutneys.
