Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • water - 1 c
  • chopped dates - 1/4 c
  • ginger - 1/2 tsp
  • cider vinegar - 1/4 c
  • light brown sugar - 1/4 c
  • seedless raisins - 1/2 c
  • dash of garlic powder - 1 item
  • dash of cayenne pepper - 1 item
  • whole cloves - 4 item
  • diced apple - 1/2 c
  • fresh or frozen cranberries - 2 c

How to make cranberry chutney:

Simmer first 9 ingredients 5 minutes. Add fruit, dates and brown sugar. Continue to simmer 15 to 20 minutes more. Berries will "pop" and mixture will thicken. Cool; store in refrigerator. Serve warm or chilled as an accompaniment to turkey, ham or beef. Keeps well in refrigerator. Makes 3 1/2 cups.
