  • sugar - 1 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • baking powder
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
  • hot water - 2 Tbsp
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • orange juice - 1/2 c
  • melted butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • whole cranberries - 1 c

How to make cranberry bread:

Preheat oven to 325°; grease and flour 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. In medium bowl, beat egg, melted shortening, orange juice and water. Stir in flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Stir until ingredients are moistened. Stir in cranberries and walnuts. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until pick inserted in center comes out clean. Store in refrigerator overnight before slicing or freeze. Makes one loaf.
