Cranberry bread





Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder
- sifted flour - 2 c
- hot water - 2 Tbsp
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- orange juice - 1/2 c
- melted shortening - 2 Tbsp
- cranberries, cut in half - 1 c
How to make cranberry bread:
Sift first 5 dry ingredients together. Beat egg and add shortening, orange juice and hot water. Combine with dry ingredients. Add nuts and cranberries. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes at 325°. Brush bread with butter; wrap in waxed paper while hot and place in refrigerator for 3 hours. Remove paper; wrap in towel and put back in refrigerator.Per Serving: 92 Calories, 3 g. Fat (29%), 15 mg. Cholesterol and 121 mg. Sodium.
