Chicken casserole
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- milk
- slices bread, cubed - 10 item
- chicken broth - 1/3 c
- mayonnaise - 2/3 c
- can cream of mushroom soup - 1 item
- onion, chopped - 2/3 c
- green pepper, chopped - 2/3 c
- celery, chopped - 2/3 c
- sharp cheese, grated - 3/4 c
- chicken or turkey, cooked and cut in bite-size pieces
- salt, pepper, garlic powder and Tabasco to taste - 1 item
- mushroom soup can milk - 1/2 item
How to make chicken casserole:
Combine chicken, onion, celery, pepper, mayonnaise, broth and seasonings. Place 5 slices of cubed bread in bottom of 3-quart casserole; spread chicken mixture over.Beat eggs with 1 1/2 cups milk; pour over chicken mixture. Put rest of bread cubes over chicken mixture and refrigerate overnight (or freeze) until ready to serve.
To serve, mix 1 can mushroom soup with 1/2 soup can milk and heat until lumps are dissolved. Pour over casserole. Cover with grated cheese and bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.
