Ingredients/Components

  • eggs - 2 item
  • milk
  • slices bread, cubed - 10 item
  • chicken broth - 1/3 c
  • mayonnaise - 2/3 c
  • can cream of mushroom soup - 1 item
  • onion, chopped - 2/3 c
  • green pepper, chopped - 2/3 c
  • celery, chopped - 2/3 c
  • sharp cheese, grated - 3/4 c
  • chicken or turkey, cooked and cut in bite-size pieces
  • salt, pepper, garlic powder and Tabasco to taste - 1 item
  • mushroom soup can milk - 1/2 item

How to make chicken casserole:

Combine chicken, onion, celery, pepper, mayonnaise, broth and seasonings. Place 5 slices of cubed bread in bottom of 3-quart casserole; spread chicken mixture over.

Beat eggs with 1 1/2 cups milk; pour over chicken mixture. Put rest of bread cubes over chicken mixture and refrigerate overnight (or freeze) until ready to serve.

To serve, mix 1 can mushroom soup with 1/2 soup can milk and heat until lumps are dissolved. Pour over casserole. Cover with grated cheese and bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.
