Chicken cacciatore
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- oregano - 1 tsp
- celery seed - 1/2 tsp
- medium onions, sliced - 2 item
- garlic to taste - 1 item
- olive or salad oil - 1/4 c
- frying chicken, cut up - 2 to
- or 2 bay leaves - 1 item
- or more can tomatoes - 1 lb
- a little hot pepper optional - 1 item
How to make chicken cacciatore:
Brown chicken in oil. Remove chicken. Add onions and minced garlic; cook until just tender. Return chicken to pan. Combine tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, oregano, celery seed, bay leaves and hot pepper, if desired. Pour sauce over chicken. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Add 1/4 cup Sauterne, if desired. Cook, uncovered, for about 15 minutes. Serve over hot noodles or spaghetti.I like the "Old Mill" brand Kluski noodles.
